First batch of humanitarian aid sent from Cyprus to floating pier in Gaza
According to the Associated Press, the first container ship carrying humanitarian aid has departed from the shores of Cyprus and is expected to soon arrive at a floating pier constructed by the Americans in the Gaza Strip.
Cypriot Foreign Minister Constantinos Kombos stated that an American vessel transporting humanitarian aid for Gaza departed from the port of Larnaca on May 9.
On May 7, the Americans completed the construction of a system of floating piers (JLOTS) off the coast of the Gaza Strip, intended for receiving humanitarian aid.
It was previously announced that the Sagamore ship would sail between Cyprus and the Gaza Strip, delivering humanitarian aid from various parts of the world. The collection of aid is overseen by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
