Ministers approve conscription law; religious ministers absent
The Cabinet of Ministers for Legislation has unanimously approved Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's proposal to advance the conscription law.
This law was initially submitted during the previous government by Benny Gantz, who served as Defense Minister at the time, and had passed the first reading in the last Knesset.
It's worth noting that ultra-religious ministers were absent from the meeting.
Despite objections from the government's legal adviser, Gali Baharav Miara, the decision was pushed through.
It's worth recalling that the legal adviser, in her official capacity, emphasized the impossibility of resuming the advancement of the law. She argued that its text no longer corresponds to current reality and is no longer relevant.
Baharav Miara also highlighted that the Prime Minister's proposal was made without consulting Yoav Gallant, yet is being promoted as a government bill on his behalf.
