Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's office responded to ICC chief prosecutor Karim Ahmad Khan's announcement of an investigation into Israeli and Hamas leaders.
"International Criminal Court Prosecutor Karim Khan has baselessly slandered Israel and crossed the line in his efforts to 'legally fight' against the only Jewish state and democracy in the Middle East. This blood libel will not prevent Israel from defending itself and achieving all the goals of our just war," the office stated.
The ICC has requested arrest warrants for Benjamin Netanyahu and Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar on charges of war crimes and crimes against humanity.
Warrants have also been requested for Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, Hamas' political leader Ismail Haniyeh, and Hamas' military leader, Mohammed Deif.
