Dutch parliament passes motion declaring 'From the River to the Sea' criminal incitement
The Tweede Kamer, the lower house of the Dutch Parliament, has adopted a motion that declares that chanting "From the River to the Sea Palestine will be Free" is a criminal act of incitement to violence.
The motion, which is not binding, was passed with a single vote difference in a 74-73 split.
The slogan "comes right off the Hamas charter and is therefore a call for violence against all Jews worldwide," the motion states.
The initiative comes from the Party for Freedom, which topped the recent elections and is known for its pro-Israel and anti-Islam stance. Its leader Geert Wilders announced a few days ago that he had formed a new coalition.
