Defense Minister Yoav Gallant responded to a video published at the end of last week by reservists.

In the video, a soldier wearing a balaclava called for the resignation of the Minister of Defense, emphasizing that “Gallant is not capable of leading us to victory.” The man in the video also stated that the reservists are ready to obey only the head of government, Benjamin Netanyahu.

“In the IDF, there is only one power - the power of the commander,” emphasized Gallant. “Everyone has their own commander: a company commander, a battalion commander, a brigade commander, a division commander, a general, and finally, the Chief of the General Staff. They are the ones who give orders in the army. There are no third-party sources, and no one speaks on behalf of others - this is the law, this is how it works, and this is how it will work.”

Gallant also thanked the reservists and their families for continuously fighting the enemy since October 7, adding that he appreciates this, as do all Israeli citizens.

Gallant made these statements during a meeting with reservists fighting in the Rafah area. He also stressed that the goal of the IDF in Rafah is even more clearly defined: the elimination of Hamas, the return of the hostages, and the preservation of freedom of action.

“As for the hostages, we have made, are making, and will make enormous efforts to free them - both physically and through agreements,” emphasized Gallant. “Therefore, your task is to defeat Hamas, win the war, and our task is to take this success to a new level both in the Gaza Strip and throughout the Middle East."
