The Israeli government has dismissed an appeal lodged by ministers from the Machane Mamlachti party against the advancement of the conscription law.

The Knesset is expected to pass the bill in its second and third readings within the next two weeks.

Defense Minister Yoav Gallant abstained from the appeal discussion, stating, “I do not intend to engage in the political theater. Both the appeal and the fast-tracking of the law are theatrical. Both are political theatrics.”

“Instead of collaborating and reaching agreements for the benefit of the military, we're here arguing, trying to cater to voters,” Gallant added.

Benny Gantz, the head of Machane Mamlachti, stated that the law will not pass. “It cannot be endorsed by the Knesset, the government, and, most importantly, it cannot be accepted by society,” Gantz remarked.
