Dozens of students are protesting at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem.
The students were protesting what they described as the "ongoing genocide in the Gaza Strip."
The demonstrators waved PLO flags and chanted "Freedom for Palestine." The organizers of the demonstration stated that this was the first in a series of planned protests "against the ongoing massacre in Gaza."
At the same time, a demonstration in support of Israel is also taking place at the Hebrew University.
Yisrael Beytenu party chairman Avigdor Liberman commented on the events at Hebrew University.
"It is unthinkable that the administration of the Hebrew University in Jerusalem allowed a disgraceful demonstration by supporters of terrorism, waving Palestinian flags in the heart of an institution of higher education. And this is happening at a time when our heroic soldiers are fighting on the battlefield. I urge the university administration to suspend all participants in this protest immediately. And take note: if you do not take action against the participants of the anti-Israel protest, we will use all available measures in the Knesset to suspend funding for the university."
