Machane Mamlachti party submits bill to dissolve the Knesset
Knesset member Pnina Tamano-Shata, head of the Machane Mamlachti parliamentary faction, submitted a bill to dissolve the 25th Knesset.
This move supports the decision by bloc leader Minister Benny Gantz to dissolve the Knesset and hold early parliamentary elections in Israel by October 2024.
The Machane Mamlachti faction's bill to dissolve the Knesset is mostly symbolic, as opposition factions had already introduced similar bills at the start of the current parliamentary session.
Submitting this bill serves as a formal step towards the faction's planned exit from the emergency government, which Benny Gantz announced on June 8.
Commenting on the bill, Tamano-Shata said, "October 7 was a disaster that requires us to regain the people's trust by creating a broad and stable government of national unity, capable of addressing the challenges facing the country in security, the economy, and Israeli society as a whole."
