Defense Minister Yoav Gallant convened an operational meeting at the Southern District headquarters, with district commander Major General Yaron Finkelman in attendance.
"The operation in Rafah is ongoing both above and below ground. Our troops are engaging firmly, dismantling the 'oxygen pipeline' connecting Gaza to Egypt," stated Galant.
He continued, "We're cutting off Hamas' lifeline, preventing their ability to sustain, recover, strengthen, or rearm."
Gallant outlined plans for a post-Hamas scenario, saying, "We're preparing for a transition away from Hamas governance. As we tighten control over the area, Hamas operatives will be removed, allowing non-Hamas local entities to take charge."
