Speaking at a legal conference at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Israel's President Isaac Herzog stated that he is ready to support the government's approval of the deal with Hamas presented by US President Joe Biden.
"After President Biden's speech, I told Netanyahu that I will support him and the government implementing the deal," Herzog said.
"We must not forget that according to Jewish tradition, there is no greater commandment than redeeming captives and hostages — especially when it comes to Israeli citizens who the State of Israel was not able to defend," Herzog added.
"It is our inherent obligation to bring them home within the framework of a deal that preserves the security interests of the State of Israel," Herzog said.
