IDF Chief of Staff at northern border: 'We are ready to shift from defense to offense'
IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Herzi Halevi and Fire and Rescue Commissioner Eyal Caspi visited the Gibor Camp in Kiryat Shmona on the northern border for a situation assessment meeting. The meeting included Brigadier General Shay Klapper, commander of the 91st Division, Major General Yair Elkayam, head of the northern district fire service, and other officers and commanders.
The IDF reported that Halevi also met with soldiers involved in extinguishing fires in the north and officers from the Golani Brigade stationed on the Lebanese border.
"We are approaching the point where a decision will have to be made, and the IDF is prepared and very ready for this decision. We have been attacking for eight months, and Hezbollah is paying a very, very high price. It has increased its strengths recently, and we are prepared to move to an attack in the north after a very good training process. We have a strong defense and readiness to attack, and we are approaching a decision point," Halevi said.
