Israeli police detained a 19-year-old resident of the village of Abu Ghosh, near Jerusalem, for making statements discrediting the Israeli army on social media while posing as an IDF soldier.
The police press office released a recording showing the suspect, wearing a uniform with an Israeli flag, telling his interlocutor in English that IDF soldiers deliberately kill women and children in the Gaza Strip every day.
Police noted that the suspect has never served in the IDF or any Israeli security forces. His statements on social media were deliberate lies aimed at discrediting the IDF.
The suspect will soon be brought to court to determine whether to extend his detention.
