A Tel Aviv district court has granted the government's request to temporarily suspend the broadcast of Al Jazeera, the Qatari television channel, in Israel.
The court ruling mandates a 35-day halt to broadcasting, although the Ministry of Communications had sought a 45-day suspension.
Furthermore, the court has authorized the closure of Al Jazeera's 21 offices in Israel, as well as restricted access to its website and the confiscation of its equipment.
Following the government's decision on May 5, satellite and cable television providers Hot and Yes complied by removing Al Jazeera from their broadcast schedules. Shortly afterward, police raided Al Jazeera's Israeli offices at the Ambassador Hotel in East Jerusalem.
