Israel's Eurovision singer Noa Kirel to star in futuristic mystery thriller from producers of 'Fauda'
Rising Israeli actor and singer Noa Kirel will star in an eight-part futuristic thriller "Wonder." Yes Studios, the creative force behind "Fauda" and "The Beauty Queen of Jerusalem," will produce the show.
Noa Kirel, an Israeli singer-songwriter, actress, model, and television host, won the MTV Europe Music Award for Best Israeli Act five times consecutively from 2017 to 2022. She represented Israel in the 2023 Eurovision Song Contest with her song "Unicorn," finishing in third place.
Set in the near future, "Wonder" follows the mysterious death of Noya, a 17-year-old girl apparently killed in a car accident. Her father Avner, a retired combat officer, and Daria, Noya's best friend and a social media personality, team up to investigate her death. They uncover Noya's hidden virtual life within "wonder," a new and enigmatic virtual reality gaming app captivating teenagers. Avner, who was mostly absent from Noya's life, is confronted with shocking revelations about his daughter. The investigation, alongside flashbacks of Noya's past, gradually reveals the dark events leading to her nighttime accident in the desert.
Paramount's Ananey Studios will also produce the TV series. Yovel Lewkowski from Netflix's "All Time High" will also star in the series.
"Wonder" will premiere on Israeli broadcaster and streamer Yes TV later this year. The show was created by Yishai Orian ("The Beetle," "Citizen Kopatz") and Yair Sagi ("The Beetle," "Burned").
