Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Foreign Minister Israel Katz have decided to appoint Danny Danon as Israel's ambassador to the UN.

“Deputy Danon has extensive experience in the international arena, and there is no doubt that his experience and abilities will be particularly evident at this difficult time,” the Prime Minister’s Office said in a statement.

The appointment will take effect upon government approval. Danon will replace Gilad Erdan as Israel's ambassador to the UN.

This will be Danon's second term as ambassador to the UN, having previously served for five years until 2020.
