Today, on Sunday, June 9, at 5:30 PM, the funeral of 57-year-old Yossi Jan from Kfar Saba will take place at the Neve Yamin cemetery. Yossi Jan was the father of 21-year-old Almog Meir Jan, rescued yesterday during a special operation in Nuseirat. His family have asked the public not to attend the funeral.
Israeli media reported the man's death, citing Rabbi Lior Engelman, who was a friend of Yossi. According to the rabbi, the father of the hostage suffered a heart attack.
Other sources indicate that when IDF representatives came to Yossi's house to inform him about Almog's release, they were told he had just died.
Judging from the photographs published yesterday, Almog's mother and grandfather greeted him at Sheba Tel-HaShomer Medical Centre.
