Major General Yitzhak Brik, commander of the Border Police (MAGAV), praised the heroic efforts and professionalism of YAMAM special forces, led by Arnon Zmora, in the rescue of four hostages in Nuseirat on June 8, 2024.
Zmora, who was fatally wounded during the operation, was posthumously promoted to the rank of major. General Brik expressed gratitude for Zmora's service and acknowledged the sacrifices of his unit, which lost 50% of its personnel during the Iron Swords War. Many of Zmora's fighters perished defending against terrorists in Kibbutz Yad Mordechai on October 7, 2023, preventing their advance onto Route 4.
