The IDF confirmed that on June 17, Muhammad Mustafa Ayoub, commander of Hezbollah's rocket battalion in southern Lebanon near Salaa village (east of Tyre, about 15 km from the Israeli border), was killed in an airstrike. Ayoub was a key commander responsible for multiple attacks on Israeli territory.

The IDF described Ayoub as a significant figure planning new attacks against Israel.

Hezbollah confirmed Ayoub's death. Hezbollah has lost about 350 commanders and fighters since the war began in October 2023.
