High Court reviews appeal against Ben-Gvir Law
The High Court of Justice (HCJ) is reviewing an appeal against a new police regulation amendment that increases the Secretary of Homeland Security's authority.
The Yesh Atid party and several public organizations filed the appeal, arguing the amendment allows the minister to interfere in police operations.
During the debate, Knesset spokesman Barth stated, "The law clearly defines the minister's powers as established by the reviewing commission. It does not change the balance of power between the minister and senior police officers or grant authority to intervene in operational decisions."
Acting Supreme Court head Uzi Vogelman criticized the bill's hasty adoption and noted the commission's guidelines were not fully followed.
