Cyprus's Ambassador to Israel Kornelios S. Korneliou has responded to Hezbollah head Hassan Nasrallah, who threatened to attack Cyprus if it supports Israel.

"When such a person threatens, there will surely be a response. We await an official reaction from Nicosia," Ambassador Korneliou said.

The diplomat emphasized that relations between Israel and Cyprus have never been stronger.

"We are trying to provide modest assistance in transferring humanitarian aid to Gaza in close coordination with Israel. I am sure Hezbollah does not like this," he said.

Nasrallah's threats towards Cyprus were made during a ceremony commemorating a senior Hezbollah commander killed by Israel on the night of June 12. Nasrallah warned that if Cyprus opens its airports or military bases to Israel during the conflict, it would be dragged into war.
