Security cabinet approves sanctions against Palestinian Authority
The security cabinet has approved a series of sanctions against the Palestinian Authority that Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich suggested in response to the PA's actions against Israel in the International Court of Justice and on the international stage.
Despite objections from the military, security services, and the US Department of Defense, the security cabinet has also approved legalizing five West Bank outposts.
Ynet notes that the legalization of illegal settlements is also a response to the decision of five European countries to recognize Palestine's independence.
The cabinet also approved new construction in the settlements and a series of sanctions against officials of Mahmoud Abbas's administration, including revoking their permits to travel through Israeli territory.
Control over illegal construction in Area B, which is under Palestinian administrative control and Israeli military control, will be tightened.
