The IDF Spokesperson's Office reported the discovery of the first tunnel in the Philadelphia Corridor area that reached Egypt and was used by Hamas for smuggling.

This was confirmed when the cement poured into the tunnel by the IDF from the Gaza Strip reached Egyptian territory.

The IDF noted that not all tunnels in the Gaza Strip-Egypt border area were intended for smuggling. Many were used for shelter, storage of ammunition, and communications.

So far, 25 tunnels have been found in the Philadelphia Corridor area. The IDF estimates about 30 more tunnels remain undiscovered, which could take up to six months to locate.
