At the initiative of the Yemin Mamlakhti faction, which began as an agenda proposal from faction chairman MK Ze'ev Elkin, the Knesset plenary session on July 17 will debate and vote on a motion to outline the Knesset's position against the establishment of a Palestinian state west of the Jordan River. This motion is a joint initiative with the Yisrael Beiteinu faction and the Eretz Israel lobby.
The proposal was signed by MKs from the "Yamin Mamlakhti," "Likud," "Mahane Mamlakhti," Shas, "Yahadut HaTorah," "Otzma Yehudit," "Yisrael Beiteinu," and "Zionut Datit" factions. (It should be noted that several MKs asked to withdraw their signatures.)
The full text of the motion reads: "The Israeli Knesset is firmly opposed to the establishment of a Palestinian state west of the Jordan River. The establishment of a Palestinian state in the heart of Eretz Yisrael would pose an existential threat to the State of Israel and its citizens, perpetuate the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, and destabilize the region. It would only be a matter of time before Hamas takes over a Palestinian state and turns it into a base for radical Islamic terrorism, acting in coordination with the Iranian-led axis of evil to destroy the State of Israel. Promoting the idea of a Palestinian state now would be a reward for terrorism and would only embolden Hamas and its supporters, who would perceive it as a victory for the massacre of 10/7/23 and the beginning of the takeover of the Middle East by jihadist Islam."
