The Gaza Health Ministry, a Hamas-affiliated entity, announced on July 18 that since the fighting began on October 7, 38,848 people have been killed in the Gaza Strip, and 89,459 have been injured to varying degrees.

According to the Ministry, 54 bodies of those killed in Gaza in the past 24 hours have been delivered to hospitals, and 95 people have been reported wounded.

This information cannot be independently verified. The Ministry does not specify how many militants are among those killed and wounded.

The World Health Organization (WHO) has previously emphasized that it cannot confirm or deny the accuracy of the data provided by the Gaza Health Ministry. However, an analysis published in The Lancet in January may indirectly indicate that the Ministry's data is close to accurate.

IDF reports indicate that dozens of militants are being killed in Gaza every day. According to the IDF, more than 15,000 fighters and their commanders have been killed in Gaza since the beginning of the war. Hamas previously admitted to losing about 6,000 of its fighters.

The Gaza Health Ministry's reports do not differentiate between civilians and militants among the casualties and claim that all are due to IDF actions, although it is clear that many are killed by terrorist organizations or for other reasons not directly related to the Israeli army's operations in Gaza.

According to the UN, about 40% of those killed in Gaza were men of military age, 20% were women, 32% were minors, and 8% were elderly.
