On Sunday, July 21, the Prisons Authority (Shabas) announced that, following a government decision and High Court ruling, Gaza detainees are being moved from the Sde Teiman temporary detention center to regular prisons.
Shabas has warned of potential instability in the prisons. As of July 15, there were 22,133 prisoners, including 9,700 held for terrorist activities. The proportion of security-related detainees is expected to rise, heightening the risk of emergencies within the prisons or attacks on Shabas facilities.
Prisons Authority chief Kobi Yaakobi indicated that an "explosive event" among security prisoners is likely imminent, according to Walla News.
