New phase of ground operation begins in Khan Younis

On Monday, July 22, the IDF entered the eastern part of Khan Younis in the southern Gaza Strip. The deployment of ground forces followed air and artillery strikes by the IDF on targets in Khan Younis. Armored units are participating in the operation.

Several months ago, the 98th Division withdrew from Khan Younis after completing an operation in the city.

The IDF notes that after convincing the residents of Khan Younis to evacuate to the Al-Mawasi area, Hamas and other groups have placed rocket launchers in evacuation camps within the humanitarian zone.

It is possible that during this current phase of the operation in Khan Younis, IDF forces will advance to Al-Mawasi to clear the area of terrorists.
