On July 24, the Hamas-run Ministry of Health in Gaza announced that since the beginning of the conflict on October 7, 39,145 people have been killed and 90,257 have been injured to varying degrees. According to the ministry, 55 bodies were brought to hospitals in Gaza over the past day, along with reports of 110 injuries.

This information from the Gaza Health Ministry is difficult to verify. The ministry does not specify how many of the casualties are militants from terrorist organizations.

The World Health Organization (WHO) has previously stated it cannot confirm or deny the accuracy of the casualty figures provided by the Gaza Health Ministry. However, an analysis published in The Lancet in January suggests that these figures might be close to accurate.

According to the IDF, dozens of terrorist group militants are killed daily in Gaza. The IDF reports that over 15,000 militants and their commanders have been eliminated since the beginning of the conflict. Hamas has acknowledged the loss of approximately 6,000 of its militants.

The Gaza Health Ministry's reports do not distinguish between civilian and militant casualties and claim all deaths are due to IDF actions, despite evidence that many are caused by actions of the militant groups or other unrelated reasons.

The Palestinian Authority's Ministry of Health data indicates that over 39% of those killed in Gaza are military-age males, 19% are women, 32% are minors, and over 8% are elderly.
