Israeli Foreign Minister Israel Katz issued a statement in response to threats from Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

"Erdogan is following in the footsteps of Saddam Hussein and threatening to attack Israel. He should simply remember what happened there and how it all ended," Katz wrote on X.

Earlier, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan spoke at a meeting with activists from the Justice and Development Party in the Rize province. Although the main part of his speech was dedicated to economic issues, the head of state used the opportunity to issue new threats against Israel.

"Israel cannot do whatever it wants in Palestine. Just as we entered Karabakh, just as we entered Libya, we can do the same to them. There is nothing impossible," he said, reminding the audience of the severed economic relations with Israel.

About two months ago, Erdogan, who has repeatedly compared Israel to the Nazis and called Hamas a national liberation movement, stated that if Israeli "aggression" in Gaza is not stopped, Israel will strike Turkey.

"Do not think that Israel will stop in Gaza. If this cruel state, this terrorist state, is not stopped, it will sooner or later target Anatolia under the pretext of capturing the Promised Land," the president said at the time.
