Gallant demands investigation into possible ban on police intervention during IDF base incursion
Defense Minister Yoav Gallant has sent a letter to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu demanding an investigation into the delay in the arrival of Israeli police at the IDF bases Sde Teiman and Beit Lid during the unrest that led to a breach of the bases.
Gallant's letter states that the police's unpreparedness to intervene for several hours forced the IDF to deploy forces from operational assignments to these bases, and the IDF's Chief of Staff had to personally handle the incursion by the unruly crowd.
Gallant has called on the Prime Minister to take stern measures against coalition members involved in the unrest and to immediately review whether the police's actions were influenced by directives from National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir, whose party members were implicated in the disturbances.
