IDF: Hezbollah Commander Linked to Majdal Shams Attack Targeted in Beirut
The IDF confirmed a strike on a Hezbollah target in Beirut, specifically a commander linked to the deaths of children in Majdal Shams. The attack occurred around 8:00 p.m. in the southern Beirut suburb of Dahiya, where an IDF drone fired three missiles at an apartment building, causing a section to collapse. Preliminary reports indicate two fatalities.
The IDF stated that there are no changes to Home Front Command instructions for the public. Any updates will be provided through official channels.
On July 27, a rocket fired from Lebanon hit a football field in the Druze settlement of Majdal Shams, killing 12 children and injuring dozens. Five injured are in serious condition, three in moderate condition, and four in mild condition. Six others needed medical help for shock. Residents reported a "Tzeva Adom" alert, but many could not take cover due to a malfunction in the air defense system.
The IDF attributes the attack to Hezbollah, launched from north of Shebaa. The missile, identified as an Iranian-made Falak-1, had a 53 kg warhead. Hezbollah has denied responsibility for the attack, claiming it was caused by an Israeli missile strike.
