The National Security Committee approved National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir's request to add municipal patrols to three Otef Aza regional councils: She'ar Hanegev, Eshkol, and Hof Ashkelon.
Following October 7, the decision was made to bolster emergency response services in communities around the Gaza Strip.
The Ministry of National Security's program will establish new police stations, expand fire and rescue services, create additional rapid response units (kitot konenut), and form municipal patrol groups (shitur ironi).
