The chief of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Rafael Grossi, acknowledged that Iran is impeding international efforts to monitor its nuclear program by ramping up the production of highly enriched uranium, nearing weapons-grade levels.
Grossi informed Bloomberg at Davos that, according to international inspectors, Iran has amassed enough enriched uranium to potentially manufacture several nuclear warheads.
"This is highly concerning," admitted the IAEA chief.
"We're puzzled by their reluctance to adhere to necessary transparency measures." He emphasized that while inspectors haven't uncovered evidence of diverting highly enriched uranium for weapons, the sheer volume being produced and stored is alarming.
In December, Iran significantly escalated its uranium enrichment activities, tripling its rate.
