The US and the UK have issued a joint statement confirming that on the evening of February 3, their armed forces hit 36 targets at 13 different locations of Houthi militants in Yemen.
Reuters said the strikes targeted weapons depots, missile batteries, airfields, and radars.
Al Jazeera reported that among the targets were Houthi military sites in the city of Taiz in central Yemen.
The US Central Command (Centcom) stated that on February 4 at 04:00 (Sanaa time), the US Navy struck a Houthi anti-ship cruise missile ready to launch at ships in the Red Sea. Centcom's statement highlighted that this missile posed an immediate threat to cargo ships and US Navy vessels in the region.
Earlier, Yemeni media reported explosions in Sanaa, Yemen's capital.
The US Central Command reported striking and destroying six rockets prepared for launch. A statement from Centcom stated that the six anti-ship missiles were ready to be launched in an area controlled by the Houthis. The missiles were intended to strike ships in the Red Sea and posed an immediate threat to US Navy vessels and merchant ships.
