Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdul-Rahman al-Thani recently stated that the ongoing negotiations between Israel and Hamas regarding a ceasefire and the release of hostages lack promise.
“Nevertheless, I hope that we will be able to reach an agreement. We remain optimistic and continue to push for it,” said the politician participating in the Munich Security Conference.
He mentioned that while both parties share similar stances on humanitarian concerns, disagreements persist, particularly regarding the exchange of prisoners for hostages. The Sheikh emphasized that these two issues should not be linked.
It's essential to note Qatar's significant role as a mediator in these negotiations. However, some voices in Israel argue that Qatar's support for Hamas undermines its ability to act as a neutral mediator.
