Yemen leadership warns: Houthi attacks will persist post-war
The head of the internationally recognized Yemeni Presidential Council, Rashad al-Alimi, addressed the Munich Security Conference. His speech focused on the threats posed by the Houthis.
Al-Alimi emphasized that the only effective approach to deal with them is through military defeat. Additionally, he stressed the importance of international pressure on Iran to cease its support for the Yemeni insurgents.
"To put an end to Houthi piracy, we must address the root of the problem: quelling the insurgency, rebuilding state institutions, and exerting maximum pressure on the Iranian regime," stated the politician.
He further expressed confidence that Houthi attacks on ships will persist even after the conclusion of the Gaza conflict.
"As long as Iran continues to support and arm the militants, they will continue to jeopardize shipping and exploit the international community," added Al-Alimi.
