The World Food Programme has announced the suspension of humanitarian aid to the northern Gaza Strip due to the ongoing chaos in the area.

In recent days, convoys delivering supplies have been attacked and looted, often facing gunfire.

The agency emphasized that this decision was made to safeguard life-saving supplies. "Recent events show that the region is facing a growing threat of hunger and disease. However, we cannot guarantee the safety of our staff," the statement read.

In October 2023, the Israeli army urged residents in the northern part of the Strip to evacuate and relocate south of the Gaza Creek. While 1.1 million people complied, approximately 300,000 remained in the north. The UN agency assisting Palestinian refugees describes their situation as dire.
