The US delegation to the UN has crafted a new draft resolution on Gaza, advocating for a six-week ceasefire and the release of all hostages, as reported by Qatari TV channel Al-Jazeera, citing diplomatic sources.

It's worth noting that the United States won't rush to put it to a vote, allowing Security Council members ample time to discuss the American proposal.

The text also expresses hope that the ceasefire will serve as the foundation for a lasting truce, fostering conditions for implementing Security Council Resolution No. 2720, which mandates the protection of civilians and the delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza.

US President Joe Biden stated that Israel has accepted the terms proposed by the mediators, with the next move now resting with Hamas.

Biden also expressed hope that a ceasefire could be reached before the Muslim holy month of Ramadan begins on March 10.
