Terrorist group Hamas has declared its intention to continue advocating for a truce in the Gaza Strip, despite Israel's decision not to send a delegation to the latest round of talks in Cairo.

"We are showing the necessary flexibility to end the aggression against our people, despite Israel's failure to uphold agreements," the group stated in a release.

Egypt, Qatar, and the United States are pushing for a six-week agreement to commence around the beginning of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan on March 10.

On March 5, US President Joe Biden announced the formulation of a compromise proposal, leaving it up to Hamas to accept or reject.

In addition to a ceasefire and the exchange of Israeli hostages for Palestinian prisoners, the agreement also includes a significant increase in humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip.
