UNRWA head: Israel blocks Gaza humanitarian aid over medical scissors
The head of the UN Relief Agency for Palestine Refugees, Philippe Lazzarini, has accused Israeli authorities of blocking a truck carrying humanitarian aid from entering the Gaza Strip due to the presence of scissors in a medical equipment set.
"It's crucial to expedite the inspection of humanitarian aid to ensure swift delivery of critical supplies to Gaza. The lives of two million people depend on this. There's no time to waste," stated H, an international official on social media.
Israeli authorities have refuted the allegation, with the Office of the Territorial Activities Coordinator stating, "Lying is a sign of desperation."
On March 12, humanitarian aid was delivered to the northern Gaza Strip for the first time via a new road constructed by the IDF. This new road, which divides the sector into two parts, eliminates the need for trucks carrying humanitarian aid to traverse the entire enclave from south to north.
As part of a pilot project, six trucks traveled along the new road to Gaza, undergoing thorough inspection at the Kerem Shalom checkpoint. The aid they transported was provided by the World Food Program (WFP).
