Houthis launch attacks; US destroys drones in Yemen
The United States Central Command reports that earlier Saturday, Iran-backed Yemeni Houthis terrorists launched two drones towards the Red Sea.
The US military destroyed one drone while another one has apparently crashed into the Red Sea without causing damage.
CETNCOM also said that in self-defense, it destroyed five unmanned surface vessels and one UAV in Houthi-controlled areas of Yemen.
"It was determined these weapons presented an imminent threat to merchant vessels and US Navy ships in the region," the statement reads.
The British military's United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations said that a commercial ship was targeted by a missile in the Gulf of Aden. The rocket exploded near the vessel. The vessel wasn't damaged, and the crew is safe. The ship is currently heading to port.
