Mossad chief Barnea leaves Qatar, negotiations to continue
The Foreign Ministry of Qatar announced that Mossad chief David Barnea flew back to Israel on Tuesday, but negotiations will continue.
According to spokesperson Majed al-Ansari, Israel's technical teams remain in Qatar to examine the details of a potential deal after the principal negotiators have discussed the "main issues". "We expect that the counter-proposal will be presented to Hamas, but this is not the final step in the process," he said.
"I don't think we are at a moment where we can say we are close to a deal. We are cautiously optimistic because talks have resumed, but it's too early to announce any successes," the diplomat added.
