US Secretary of State to visit Middle East for sixth time since October

The US State Department said Secretary of State Antony Blinken, who is currently in South Korea, will travel to the Middle East on March 20.

The tour program includes Egypt and Saudi Arabia. During his visit, he will discuss the delivery of humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip and the post-war structure of the enclave.

This is Blinken's sixth visit to the region since the Hamas attack on Israel on October 7, 2023.

The Joe Biden administration, which initially unconditionally supported the rights of the Jewish state to self-defense, has gradually changed its position. it now opposes the military operation in Rafah, where more than a million Palestinian refugees are concentrated.

This topic was also raised during a telephone conversation between US President Joe Biden and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on March 18. Biden called the operation a "mistake".
