The Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ali Khamenei, has commented on the attack in the center of Damascus, attributed to Israel, which killed seven senior representatives of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, including two generals.
"The Zionist regime will continue to suffer defeat after defeat in Gaza. This regime will face decline and collapse. Desperate measures like those we saw in Damascus will not save it. And we will avenge the dead,” stated the head of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
Iran claims that as a result of the Israeli strike on the Iranian consulate in Damascus, seven representatives of the IRGC were killed, including the commander of the Quds Force in Syria and Lebanon, Mohammad Reza Zahedi, who formerly led the IRGC air force.
IDF spokesman Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari stated that, according to Israeli information, the building struck is the headquarters of the Quds Force in Syria, not the Iranian consulate.
However, he did not confirm Israeli responsibility for the strike.
