On the evening of April 7, Hamas announced that a delegation from the Islamic Resistance Movement had arrived in Cairo for talks. Representatives of the terror group held a meeting with the head of Egypt's General Intelligence Directorate Abbas Kamel.
In its statement, Hamas confirmed its intention to reach an agreement that will ensure "full ceasefire and withdrawal of Israeli troops from Gaza, return of displaced Palestinians to their homes, restoration of what was destroyed by the Israeli army, and release of Palestinian prisoners from Israeli prisons in exchange for the release of Israeli captives."
