PA President Mahmoud Abbas stated that the Palestinian Authority "will reconsider its relationship with the United States" as he blamed the United States for "escalating tensions in the Middle East," according to the Wafa news agency.
President Abbas voiced his criticism of the US administration in a recent interview with the agency. This dissatisfaction was sparked by the US vetoing the Palestinian Authority's bid for permanent membership of the United Nations.
Twelve out of fifteen countries voted "in favor," while the United Kingdom and Switzerland abstained.
Currently, the Palestinian Authority has status of "non-member observer".
