The London-based monitoring group, The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR), reports that on May 5 in the northeast of Syria, in the city of Al-Hasakah, one of the leaders of Hezbollah militants, Iyad al-Saleh, also known as "Al-Hajj," was killed as a result of a car explosion.
The report states that "Al-Hajj" had his legs blown off by the explosion, and he later succumbed to his injuries.
According to available information, Iyad al-Salah represented not only Hezbollah but also Iran in Syria, engaging in recruiting militants for pro-Iranian groups.
Apparently, the explosive device was planted in the jeep in which he was traveling.
