Palestinian movements and factions have jointly issued a statement opposing the transfer of control of the Rafah crossing on the Gaza-Egypt border.
After the IDF assumed control of the checkpoint on May 7, reports emerged in the media suggesting that control would be handed over to an American security company. The factions argue that such a move would constitute a form of occupation, and they pledge to resist it just as they resist the Israeli occupation.
A protest against these proposed plans and the Israeli army's control of the checkpoint has been lodged with the League of Arab States and other Muslim countries. It is also noted separately that Egypt, which controls the other part of the checkpoint, has been informed of the protest.
