The US Central Command announced the completion of a pier installation for delivering humanitarian aid to Gaza.
The pier, towed to Gaza and secured offshore away from fighting, will have no US troops. UN staff will receive aid, with Israeli army providing security.
Cargo from Cyprus is managed by USAID. Costing $320 million, the pier's towing was delayed due to bad weather.
Once operational, it can handle daily cargo equivalent to 90 trucks, expanding to 150. It's meant to complement, not replace, land-based routes.
