Russia and Egypt to hold joint naval exercises near Israel
A detachment of Russian warships, including the missile cruiser "Varyag" and the frigate "Marshal Shaposhnikov," made a scheduled visit to the Egyptian port of Alexandria.
According to Russian Ministry of Defense representatives, joint exercises will occur with the Egyptian naval forces.
On June 12, Russia Day, a reception will be held aboard the cruiser "Varyag," with representatives from the Egyptian naval command in attendance.
The Russian Ministry of Defense announced that the warships will remain in Egypt until June 14. The visit will conclude with a bilateral exercise with the Egyptian Navy in the Passex format, focusing on joint maneuvering, communication drills, and inspection training.
