The UK Maritime Trade Operations Office (UKMTO) reported an explosion near a ship 246 miles south of Yemen. "The vessel, near Socotra Island, was not damaged and continued its journey," stated the UKMTO.
On June 24, Yemen's Houthis reported attacks on two ships: a UAV struck the bulk carrier Transworld Navigator in the Red Sea, and the tanker Stolt Sequoia in the Arabian Sea. The Transworld Navigator was en route from Malaysia to Egypt, while the Stolt Sequoia was traveling from Bahrain to France.
The Houthis, supported by Iran, have been attacking ships since November 2023, claiming they aim to assist residents of the Gaza Strip. These actions have significantly disrupted international trade.
